Scientists, who wish to apply for an AMS Student Presenter Travel Allowance, an EMS Young Scientist Conference Award (YSCA), a Tromp Foundation Travel Award to Young Scientists (TFTAYS) or an IAUC Travel Stipend and fee waiver must be the principal author of their contribution and must submit an abstract by 31 January 2025. Please study the respective announcement below for requirements and submission of any additional documentation.
- Please note that all support applicants have to pay Abstract Processing Fees (APF) at the time of submitting the abstract.
- Please note that support through any of these schemes will only be granted to applicants intending to participate onsite at the meeting in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
- Each support is granted to the contact author for a particular abstract. Should this abstract be withdrawn before the meeting or should this abstract not be presented onsite at the meeting, although the author who has been granted support is present at the meeting, the support grant must be returned, i.e. the author in question will be asked to register and, if necessary, to pay back the money received.
- Awards and registration fee waivers cannot be transferred.

- EMS Young Scientist Conference Award
EMS Young Scientist Conference Awards are awarded to support participation of outstanding students and young scientists at EMS-co-sponsored conferences. Please find further information on how to apply at the
EMS website.
- American Meteorological Society (AMS) Student Presenter Travel Allowance
This allowance is designed to partly cover registration fees, transportation costs, food and lodging for students presenting poster or oral papers. Travel reimbursement occurs after the meeting. Registration should be handled prior to the travel and during the registration period where possible. To apply, please submit:
- a short written statement (no more than one page) declaring your financial need and circumstance, relevance of your research to the conference and how you will benefit from attending the conference.

The selection committee will evaluate and vote for student award winners based on the written statements with names/affiliations removed. See Guidelines for all Student Awards (above) for more information.
- International Association for Urban Climate (IAUC) Travel Stipend and fee waiver
IAUC grants 10 travel stipends of €1000 each (plus registration fee waiver provided by the local hosts) for early career researchers from under-represented parts of the world to present their work at ICUC12. You qualify if you are a Master’s student or a PhD student and come from a country listed in group A or B in the
research4life list. To apply, please submit:
- An abstract for presentation
- One file including
- A short motivation letter of max 300 words
- Statement that not institutional of project funding is available
- Proof of residency
- Proof of ECR status (either student registration or Master’s degree certificate with date)
- Tromp Foundation Travel Award to Young Scientists (TFTAYS)
The travel awards are designated for young scientists under 35 years of age submitting an abstract for a presentation in the area of biometeorology, in particular for the sessions:
- HH1: Biometeorology of living organisms in the urban environment
- HH2: Urban Heat: Human Perception and Behaviour
- HH3: Interactions between indoor and outdoor thermal comfort
The Award in memoriam of the Dutch long-term Chair of the Tromp Foundation, Wop Rietveld, is reserved for a Dutch biometeorologist who has made an exceptional contribution to the field of biometeorology.
The Travel Awards consist of a waiver for the registration fee and financial support of up to 1,000 € for travel expenses to attend the 12th International Conference on Urban Climate.
The Wop Rietveld Memorial Award consist of 1,000 €, a waiver for the registration fee and financial support of up to 1,000 € for travel expenses to attend the 12th International Conference on Urban Climate.
